Getting Back into the Swing of Things

So the past few months have been crazy. Been working on a lot of different projects which if your following on Instagram or Facebook you have seen some updates. In case you don't follow me on social media I will share a couple of updates here to catch everyone up.

In early October I did some woodworking and built a 16u server rack for the office to hold some of the lab along with the media server and eventually my 2nd NAS.

This was almost the final product once I got everything tightened up.

This was the final placement in the office and the Media Server and HP Switch installed in their slots.

*notice the 2d printer sitting on top with the beginnings of its enclosure started

Meanwhile I got the rest of the parts printed for the 3d printer enclosure, all that's left for this is the plexiglass and a spool holder.

Added my Raspberry pi cluster along with the 10 port D-Link switch for some PoE since the HP doesn't have PoE. Also scored a pretty sweet Tripplite SmartPro UPS for the whole rack.

In the middle of October I started putting together the new Media server. I took some time to get all the parts together but was worth the wait.

The motherboard that I ended up getting was an Intel board from a buddy that happen to use the same 2011 sockets of the dual CPUs I had from my Lab Server that wasn't getting any love so it worked out perfect

Got the Processors mounted and ready to go, next step was the PSU and CPU coolers

After I got the Coolers the power supply I got was having some issues. I decided to pull a 400w server PSU to test and the whole system fired up without issue. After some research (I asked reddit ok) I found that the -12v rail on the PSU didn't have enough Amperage. Luckly a buddy had another PSU that fit the bill and sure enough everything seemed to be working amazing.

Final pictures and specs from the new server

This is the final setup for the "Office Lab/Media Server"

The final update is the 18u rack that I got for the Garage to house the rest of my Home Lab
So far I have my stacked Cisco 2960S switches and the patch panel, need to add the (2) Cisco 1911 Routers and the HYVE Zeus server to the whole setup.

Final picture with all the side panels and front door installed.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my updates, I know this is a jumbled mess but its a start. Feel free to leave me a comment below and check out the Instagram and Facebook pages as well. I look forward to hearing from you and to getting the next update out to you as well
